You only need three ingredients to make these yummy snail snacks; crescent roll dough, carrots, and butter. We love this activity because kids can help roll up the dough to make the snail shape.

Supplies needed to make snail snacks

  • Crescent roll dough sheet (or breadstick dough sheet)
  • 1 carrot
  • 1 tbs melted butter

Instructions for making snail snacks

Step 1

Before you get started, heat the oven to 375F.

Cut your dough sheet into strips about 1 inch wide and 4 1/2 inches long (this is to make bite-sized snails).

Melt the butter in a bowl and brush it onto each strip.

Step 2

Roll the strip of crescent dough into a snail shape. Tuck one end under and roll the rest over. Place your snail onto a baking tray.

Repeat this process until you have enough snails.

Put the tray into the oven for 5-6 minutes. Once they start browning they are done, so keep a close eye on them.

Add carrot sticks to each of your snails.

Step 3

Cut carrot sticks into small strips.

Using a knife make two very small slits in the front of each snail, and then insert the carrot sticks.

Dipping sauces for snail snacks

For sweet crescent roll snails serve bowls of Nutella, honey butter, chocolate ganache, or custard.

If you are making savory snails using breadstick dough, consider serving them with bowls of marina sauce, Bang Bang sauce, honey mustard, or cheese sauce.

Ingredients

  • Crescent roll dough sheets (or breadstick dough sheets)
  • Carrot
  • 2 tbs melted butter

Instructions

  1. Heat the oven to 375F
  2. Roll out your dough and slice it into pieces approximately 1 inch wide and 4 1/2 inches long.
  3. Starting at one end roll the snail's shell until the last inch of dough remains.
  4. Fold that last end underneath to make the head for your snail.
  5. Put all of your snails on a baking tray and bake for 5-6 minutes. Make sure to keep a close eye on them because once they start browning they are done.
  6. Cut the carrot into tiny strips.
  7. Use a knife to make two small holes either side of the head and insert the carrot sticks.
  8. Serve with your favorite dipping sauce such as honey butter or Nutella for sweet or marina sauce for savory.
