This time of year, we receive a lot of school notices and children’s birthday party invitations. Because of that, we often run out of refrigerator magnets. Thankfully, our craft cabinet was stocked with plenty of materials to make new magnets, like adorable Caterpillar Magnets, perfect for summer!

  • standard sized wooden clothespin
  • hot glue and hot glue gun
  • yarn
  • washable markers
  • black permanent marker

How To Make Adorable Clothespin Caterpillar Magnet Craft

Step 1

Let’s start by coloring the wooden circles.

First, invite children to color the wooden circles with markers. Alternatively, kids could paint them, but sometimes it’s nice to have a little less cleanup!

Step 2

After the wooden circles are colored, invite your child to create a face for the caterpillar with googly eyes and the permanent marker.

Step 3

Attach the yarn to the back of the caterpillar’s head to create antennae.

Step 4

Use hot glue to attach the wooden circles to the clothespin in the shape of a caterpillar.

Step 5

Last, apply a strip of adhesive magnetic tape to the back of the clothespin.

Caterpillar Magnets

This super cute clothespin magnet caterpillar craft is so easy to make! It's the perfect caterpillar craft for kids of all ages, and only requires minimal budget-friendly craft supplies.

Materials

  • 1 inch wooden circles
  • standard sized wooden clothespin
  • hot glue and hot glue gun
  • yarn
  • washable markers
  • black permanent marker
  • googly eyes
  • magnetic tape

Instructions

  1. First, let your kids either use markers to color the wooden circles, or they can use acrylic paint to paint the wooden circles.
  2. Once your wooden circles are colorful, let your child create the caterpillar face using googly eyes and a permanent marker to make a happy smile.
  3. Don't forget to use clue to attack the string antennas to the back of the caterpillar's head.
  4. Use your hot glue gun to glue the wooden circles to the clothespin in the shape of a caterpillar, or similar to an inch worm.
  5. Lastly, apple a strip of adhesive magnetic tape to the back of the clothespin. Then you're done making this caterpillar craft!
