Let’s learn some cool facts about bears!

Bears are fascinating creatures! Did you know that Kodiak bears when standing on their hind legs can reach over 9 feet? And that these apex predators have natural predators of their own? Yes! Tigers, coyotes and wolves are just a few.

Bears also have excellent senses of smell – they can smell food sources up to 20 miles away. That’s very far! 

In the following facts, we will learn more about them: their natural habitats, what they eat, where their sizes, and more. We hope you enjoy reading them as much as we did writing them!

  1. Bears, scientific name “ursidae”, are large animals found all over the world, from North America to the southern hemisphere.
  2. Bears are excellent climbers and have an excellent sense of smell. They can smell up to 20 miles away!
  3. There are eight species of bears: American black bears, Asiatic black bears, brown bears, giant panda bears, polar bears, sloth bears, spectacled bears, and sun bears.
  4. We can tell the age of a bear by looking at their teeth.
  5. Bears are typically solitary animals.
  6. Polar bears are the largest bears on Earth.
